Summertime in New York City is perfect for adventure and discovery. In July alone, there are countless events that you should mark on your calendar. Here are just a few that are especially popular.

  1. Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks

On Wednesday, July 4th, you’ll see firework displays all over the city, but none compare to the Macy’s fireworks. For the best view, you want the city skyline in clear view. Rooftop bars are a good option, or you could opt to view the show from one of NYC’s many beautiful parks. Be sure to arrive early so you can secure a good view!

  1. Panorama Music Festival

The weekend of July 27th, 2018, will be a busy one for Randalls Island because of Panorama Music Festival. The lineup includes Janet Jackson, the Weeknd, the Killers, Gucci Mane, Migos, David Byrne and more. To be part of this one-of-a-kind music festival, buy your passes in advance and prepare for an incredible experience.

  1. Shakespeare in the Park

If you’re available at 8 p.m. on Tuesday-Sunday, you’ll have the opportunity to see Shakespeare performances at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Othello was performed in the beginning half of the summer, but from July 17th-August 19th, Twelfth Night will be featured.

  1. NYC Poetry Festival

The Poetry Society of New York is, once again, hosting their annual poetry-reading series, taking over Governors Island at 11 a.m. on July 28th and 29th. A $10 donation is suggested for attending. With more than 200 poets and 50 organizations reading, I’m sure there will be something for everyone.
